<p>This is a shot of my son, Conor, from the spring. The purpose of it was to create an image of him that the typical mass-sports portrait photographer would not take. Conor wanted a &#8220;threatening&#8221; photo. He wanted to look tough. He liked the images that he&#8217;d seen on <a title="lacrosse photos" href="http://strobist.blogspot.com/search?q=lacrosse" target="_blank">David Hobby&#8217;s Strobist</a> site and the <a title="Strobist Group - Flicker" href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/strobist/" target="_blank">strobist feed on flickr</a>. <span id="more-36"></span></p>
<p>The set-up was simple &#8211; shot in my basement, a black sheet on the wall, two speed-lights aimed from behind Conor&#8217;s head towards the camera, a bounce card in front of him for fill.</p>
<p>No studio necessary! Some simple lighting and a very effective look was achieved.</p>
